Induction Hardened Shaft – Manufacturer & Supplier in Pune, India
Kamal Hydrotech manufactures precision induction hardened shafts from EN8/CK45 steel with surface hardness of 58–62 HRC and surface finish Ra 0.2μm. The induction hardening process selectively hardens only the outer surface to a depth of 1.5–3mm while keeping the core tough and ductile — delivering superior wear resistance without compromising machinability.
Our induction hardened shafts are precision-ground and polished to tight tolerances (f7/f8), making them a direct-fit replacement for standard hard chrome plated rods in applications demanding higher impact resistance. Available in diameters 20mm–200mm and lengths up to 6000mm. Custom sizes to drawing are accepted.

Frequently Asked Questions – Induction Hardened Shaft
An induction hardened shaft is a steel shaft whose surface layer is hardened using induction heating, achieving 58–62 HRC surface hardness. The core remains tough while the surface becomes highly wear-resistant, making it ideal for hydraulic cylinders, linear motion guides, and heavy industrial machinery.
Kamal Hydrotech uses EN8 / CK45 steel (most common for hydraulic rods), EN31 for high-load applications, and EN19 for demanding environments. All grades conform to IS and DIN standards and are sourced from certified steel mills.
Surface hardness is 58–62 HRC with a case depth of 1.5–3 mm. Core hardness remains at 28–35 HRC — giving the ideal balance of wear-resistant surface and tough, impact-absorbing core.
Induction hardened shafts are used in hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic cylinders, linear motion bearing systems, machine tool guides, agricultural equipment, construction machinery, plastic injection moulding machines, and industrial tie rods — wherever a combination of hard surface and tough core is essential.
An induction hardened shaft achieves 58–62 HRC through heat treatment of the base steel with 1.5–3 mm deep hardness and better impact resistance. A hard chrome plated rod has a thin 15–25 micron chrome layer over softer steel giving a smoother Ra 0.2μm finish but less impact resistance. Choose induction hardened for impact-heavy applications; chrome plated for smooth, corrosion-resistant surface.
